About the Authors
Lynne Diebel grew up in Minnesota and earned her degree in English at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Since 1974, she has lived in Stoughton, Wisconsin, with her husband Bob Diebel and their four children, now grown. After she retired from teaching English at Stoughton High School, she and Jann Kalscheur created ABCs Naturally, published in 2003. From 2003 to 2006, Lynne and Bob canoed and kayaked almost 3,000 miles of rivers and lakes in Minnesota in order to write two guidebooks, Paddling Northern Minnesota (2005) and Paddling Southern Minnesota (2007), published by Trails Books. She contributes articles to Northern Wilds and Minnesota Trails and is currently working with writer Pat Dillon on The Green Travel Guide to Southern Wisconsin and The Green Guide to Northern Wisconsin for University of Wisconsin Press and with Jann Kalscheur on a new children’s book.
Jann Kalscheur, who has lived in Wisconsin all her life, teaches Language Arts at Stoughton High School and lives in Oregon, Wisconsin, with her husband, their two sons and dog, Thor. When she isn’t busy teaching, she enjoys reading, traveling and nature photography. She has been alphabet hunting for 20 years, and most of the early hunts were with her sons. From her large collection of natural alphabet photos, she and Lynne Diebel created ABCs Naturally, published by Trails Books. She continues to photograph new natural alphabet and numeral images, and she and Lynne are working on a new children’s book.
